Facts about blue light

Blue light is everywhere, the main source being natural sunlight with the Blue light being at the end of the visible light spectrum.

But it is also man-made. TV screens, computers, smartphones, and other digital devices all contain a lot of of blue light. As we spend so much time in front of screens, blue light and its long term effects have become an issue.

The eye is not very good at blocking the visible blue light. Almost all blue light passes through the cornea and lens (front of the eye) to reach the retina (back of the eye).

Because the eye does not block blue light to reach the retina, it creates changes that are linked to macular degeneration which can lead to vision loss.

Benefits of blue light glasses

Blue light glasses help reduce fatigue, and symptoms associated with digital eye strains. Staring at screens before sleeping makes it harder to fall asleep and can cause restless sleep. Blue light glasses reduce the effects of blue light and can help you fall asleep, and have a better night.

Photochromic lens is an optical lens that darkens on exposure to UV light.  In the absence of UV rays, the sun, the lenses return to their clear state. It is used to protect eyes from the damaging rays of the sun.
